Scattered at times like an expressionist painting or electric pulses of energy through a room, Aenka draws its influence from the ideas of Sun Ra and Keith Jarrett, capturing magical moments through experimentation, conversation, and musical mastery. Aenka began during a jazz open stage in 2007 out of common interests. Ask anyone there and they will most likely say the same thing: “Its
about the conversation.” Aenka glides through improvisational plains on beds of curdled milk. They speak fluidly to one another with their craft. Its as if they are building a puzzle with no sides, finding a way to attach a piece even if it doesn’t seem to fit.
