“Spirits Rejoice” may just be BEST RADIO SHOW EVER!
“Spirits Rejoice” may just be BEST RADIO SHOW EVER!

The highlight of my week is Sunday, 6pm Mountain Time. This is when a show called “Spirits Rejoice” takes flight to the airwaves via Radio1190.org (1190 AM Denver/Boulder radio). I’d like to explain the brilliance behind this show, but its tough. I’ll start by pointing out that Charles and David (the two hosts) have a breadth of knowledge and brilliance that is seemingly infinite. The show focuses on the emotional, the avant garde, the experimental, and the improvisational sensationalism that is the ROOT of all music.
That’s right, every little piece of music you love, no matter how brilliant, or dull it might be, is a product of improvisation or experimentation. There are many artists who have devoted their lives and talents to exploring the realm of the unknown, experimenting with sound, inventing new ways to perform, instruct, live and breathe music. They enhance our knowledge of music adding value to the experience of any musical piece, performance or recording. The experiences are now more tangible than ever. I encourage all of you to embrace these artists, especially if you claim to be an artist yourself. Embrace them, listen, and fill your head with new ideas and approaches toward life, music, and pure happiness.
Tune in every Sunday: 6pm-8pm here:
http://www.radio1190.org/
This Sunday, Spirits Rejoice will feature a live set from Fight Spider with Spider, a beautiful experimental jazz act from Denver Colorado.

That’s right. Bocumast Headquarters just got news that David Kurtz has collected more Pokemon products than any other human being in the entire world. Click the image for a larger view! Although most Bocumast employees are considering looking for new work now, we are pretty proud of our CEO and wish him the best in trying to get “The Universe’s Largest and Creepiest Pokemon Collector EVER” title next.

The Bottesini Project tops 2009 Moovers and Shakers List in Westword.
The Bottesini Project tops 2009 Moovers and Shakers List in Westword.
A few days ago, we reported that several Bocumast artists made the Moovers and Shakers list in the Dec. 29th Westword (Denver’s Premier Entertainment Guide), but we missed out on one tiny detail. Never would we have thought that a Bocumast artist would top the list on the very first page, so somehow the link was suppressed when we received it. And I must admit that we were a little miffed that this one act was slighted. But with new information, comes the reward of joy and brotherhood throughout the kingdom of Denver.
The Bottesini Project is considered a top moover and shaker by this esteemed entertainment journal because they released a beautiful tidal wave of an album in 2009 called Naima’s Grass Pajamas…and because the name starts with B. Such an album would seem nearly impossible to create to people of the Renaissance, Fire Dancers, or even Stilt Walkers. We received our first copy in October and it still hasn’t left the playlist. Please check it out here for only $3.99:

Its normally priced at $29.99, so this is a really good deal! That’s like buying one watermelon, but getting a whole truck load of watermelons. Sort of.
also check out The Bottesini Project Website, which is full of fantastic information about the band:

Tom Metz, Yawn Tron, Pourbaix, Park among 2009 Westword Movers & Shavers
Tom Metz, Yawn Tron, Park Pourbaix, Tim Pourbaix among 2009 Westword Movers & Shavers!

Perhaps you don’t know these musical acts. Perhaps you spend hours in the shower wondering why your hair keeps falling out. Or maybe you have a collection of peanut based candies that you display in your home via slide projector because the candies are too fragile to display on their own. Relevance and honorable mentioning aside, take a moment to read this, or re-read it if you have already. Now seek out these artists because the truth is on the page in electronic form, a form the majority of humans have now accepted and adopted. Its time to experience all those things you said you wanted from this life. Its time to entertain new possibilities and dive stomach first into a gelatin mold of delightful persuasions. You’ll be the one that changes you for you and you can start with Tom Metz (Iuengliss), Yawn Tron, or Park Pourbaix….or any of the other fine artists of the year featured on bocumastrecords.com.
